What do you do at Merritt Group?
I work as an account coordinator in the Business Technology Group. I work with clients in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data and Internet of Things.
What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school or marketing/PR — so far?
The greatest moment was having the opportunity to work in the student-run PR agency at the university I attended. It guided me in the direction I wanted to go in PR and equipped me with the essential tools needed to thrive in this coffee-fueled industry.
Who do you love to follow on Twitter or Instagram and why?
I follow a lot of tech influencers. This way I can always stay on top of trends and know about what’s coming next. Kirk Borne (@KirkDBorne) is one of my favorites.
What’s your favorite piece of technology?
My favorite piece of technology has to be my Kindle. It’s nice being able to travel around with all of my favorite books just a button away.
What’s the one gadget you think needs to be invented?
An R2 – D2 (Yes I am a huge Star Wars fan).
What’s your favorite thing about living in the San Francisco area?
I live in Oakland which is actually right outside of San Francisco. I do find myself spending a lot of time in the city. There is always a sports game to catch or a new place to eat! Those are my favorite parts about the area.
What do you love to do when you are not working?
When I am not working, I can be found creating barbecue recipes. I am not sure what I enjoy more – the smell of barbecuing or the flavor it brings to the food. I can also be found performing as a Disc Jockey. I am a huge music fanatic and consider a microphone and a pair of turntables my happy place.
What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
“Fight Club” by Chuck Palahniuk. I will definitely be re-reading it at some point.
What are your podcast recommendations?
A16z and TechCrunch are my recommended podcasts, especially for someone who may be curious about what is taking place in the tech world.
What’s your favorite Merritt Group memory?
My greatest Merritt Group memory is landing coverage in Chain Store Age, a retail trade publication, during my first week. It was a very exciting moment.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Ranch dressing! It belongs on everything.
What’s the most interesting item on your desk?
I might be a runner-up for having the least exciting desk. Simplicity is key!
