What do you do at Merritt Group?
I’m an account executive in Merritt Group’s Cybersecurity Practice.
What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school or marketing/PR — so far?
My greatest moment (so far) was when I found out I was being promoted from an account coordinator to an account executive. My first year at Merritt Group was one of significant learning and growth so it was extremely rewarding to take a step back and recognize how far I’ve come, as well as where I am going.
I also teared up when I got my first piece of Wall Street Journal coverage. So that was neat too.
Who do you love to follow on Twitter or Instagram and why?
My clients, obviously. Whoever drafts their content is a wordsmith genius…
What’s your favorite piece of technology?
I’m a huge fan of my Tile tracker on my keys. I’m constantly running around from place to place so being able to locate my car/apartment keys at any given time from my cell phone helps me breathe a huge sigh of relief.
What’s the one gadget you think needs to be invented?
Teleportation. It would help me with time and my inability to parallel park in D.C.
What’s your favorite thing about living in the Washington, D.C., area?
There are plenty of people to commiserate with during NHL playoff season. Being a Caps fan is tough at times, but misery loves company. Rock the Red!
What do you love to do when you are not working?
I am embarrassingly enthusiastic about working out. From Gold’s Gym to SoulCycle, I really enjoy being active and finding new workouts that I enjoy. Rolling out of bed for 6 a.m. classes can be difficult, but it’s a great way to boost your mood and get energized.
What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
I’m currently reading a book called, “The Subtle Art of Not (Caring).” It’s hilariously blunt and genuinely helps you prioritize what is worth your time/effort and what isn’t. I love marking up my books with highlighter and notes, so ending the day by annotating a chapter is super relaxing for me.
What are your podcast recommendations?
Honestly, I am not hip enough to listen to podcasts. I stick to Red Hot Chili Peppers artist radio on Spotify.
What’s your favorite Merritt Group memory?
One time, we had an all-hands meeting scheduled for a Thursday at noon. I received a company-wide email informing us that lunch had arrived, so I made my way to the main conference room at the front of the office. As I turned the corner, a large bowl immediately caught my eye. Walking slowly, I zeroed in on it and realized what was inside: District Taco queso.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
My mom. We talk just about every day and she’s my #1 gal pal.
What’s the most interesting item on your desk?
My fish, Gerlad! He’s named after a coworker’s frequent typos while attempting to spell the name “Gerald.” He even puts on a show (to the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song) at feeding time everyday.
