Pitching via FaceBook?

Noted bloggers, Tom Foremski and Robert Scoble, recently posted blogs asking the PR community to pitch them through Facebook rather than sending them an email.  Reporters and bloggers like Scoble and Foremski get so much email such a step like this may not be too surprising.  But by making these posts, they are probably opening up a can of worms and they’re going to get hammered pitches. This really shows you how far the PR world has come when these Facebook-type posts were once a place to leave funny jokes or drop a note and now they are a distribution point for the media.

I can’t say that I am ready to start pitching someone via Facebook.  If it’s something that starts to pick up steam, then I’ll certainly give it a look and we’ll see where it goes.  The big thing is to see if other members of the media start to follow suit and totally give up email for Facebook.

Probably an interesting survey to be done by PRSA or a similar organization at some point – asking journalists which form they will be taking pitches by in the next 6 months, 1 year and 3 years?
