Merritt Gets Cooking Around the 3rd Annual Brainfood Grill-Off

It's that time of year again - Merritt Groupers are putting on their chef's hats for the annual Brainfood Grill-Off to be held next Thursday, June 11. For those who don't know, Brainfood is a DC-based nonprofit that uses food and cooking as tools to teach life skills and healthy living to teenagers in a safe and positive environment.

For the third straight year, Merritt Group employees are donating their time and promoting the event in the community through public relations, advertising, financial support and a team of its own in the grilling competition.

This year's event will be more exciting than ever with the participation of local celebrity chefs and food personalities such as Teddy Folkman, executive chef at Granville Moore's and finalist on the new season of The Next Food Network Star. In addition to the grilling competition, highlights include hors d'oeuvres, an open bar and a silent auction.

I would like to encourage you to come out to the event and support the Merritt Group team, network and enjoy some great food and drink. Although last year's delicious duck with mango salsa and mushrooms didn't top the awards, we vow to take first place this go-around!

COST: $75 per ticket
$3,000 per team entry

100 percent of ticket sales will be used to help Brainfood to continue serving youths through after school and summer institute programs, including hands-on instruction, educational field trips and guest chef demonstrations.
